Arizona

Well I guess its time to get back on the blogging now that we are away from all of our family and friends so you all can see what life is bringing for us here in AZ! I guess I need to start off with our little Dax man! I just realized that my last blog was half way through my pregnancy... sorry.
Daxton Joseph Bateman was born on June 13th 2012 at 1:30 am weighing in at 8lbs 5oz and 20 inches. He is such a joy to have in our family. He is now 3 months old and 15lbs and 25 inches! He is starting to smile and laugh a lot now. Devin and I love making him laugh. He is a good baby but doesn't like to be put down so Mom doesn't get everything done everyday that she had planned, but that's ok because those things can wait and he is growing up too fast. He is a spitting image of his father, he will make these little faces that look just like Devin and it makes me smile.

Ok, who can resist taking pictures of a baby just out of the tub? I just want to kiss those cheeks all day long.

After the older kiddos go to bed we just hang out with our little guy until he falls asleep. (don't mind the no make up) We are currently working on getting him to sleep in his own bed. It is going ok, but he is just too cute and mom is a softie so it is still a work in progress.
Let me tell you, this guy is the best daddy ever!! I thought I was lucky to have him as my husband, now I think Dax is so lucky to have him as his Daddy. I love him!

We were lucky and got to have Grandma and Grandpa come visit for a few days and we went to the children's museum. It was fun. The kids love having grandma and grandpa around.

The grocery shop was their favorite part of the museum.

Camden was being my model for me to play around with new camera! Isn't he just a little stud? Love him! He has started full day Kindergarten and his teacher is so impressed at how smart he is. So he is doing great in school. He makes me laugh because he is so excited to go to school that when I get up at 6:30 to go wake the kids up for school he is usually already awake and coloring or something. He just started soccer again and is so excited. I on the other hand am not so excited because I was nominated as coach... we'll see how this goes. We had our first practice and 4 out of 8 showed up. So... hopefully we will have a team.

Miss Mariah! She is growing into a sweet young lady. I can't believe she is 8 and in 3rd grade. She is a great big sister and loves to help out with Dax. Any time he need some attention she is right there. Although he is getting a little too heavy for her to carry around now. She is making lots of new friends and really enjoys school. We are working hard on Math, telling time, and reading. It is fun to see her getting better each day.

She just started swim team and she loves it. Her coach told me that she is such a joy to have on the team and that she works hard and and asks lots of questions. I love watching her. I didn't know that it would be so fun as a parent to watch your child work hard at something they enjoy but I love that she loves it.

I think the only thing that I haven't talked about yet is law school. Devin says that school is going good, so thats good. I actually see him more than I thought I would. It is basically like a full time job. He leaves when the kids go to school and is home for dinner every night, and spends the evening with us. So far life has been good here in AZ. It is starting to cool down a bit so that is nice. We are making new friends and really like our ward. I am missing home but hopefully this will be home soon. We love and miss you all, and hopefully it won't be 7 months before I do the next update!

21 weeks!

On one hand I can't believe that I am already more than half way done with this pregnancy thing, but on the other hand it still feels like forever until I get to hold this sweet baby boy in my arms! This picture was taken by my little buddy Camden when I was 21 weeks, but now I am almost 23 weeks and it just keeps getting bigger so I will have to update new pics later:) So far things are going great with the pregnancy, mom and baby are healthy and doing well. I am trying to make the most out of this 2nd trimester seeing as how the first one was not exactly a walk in the park, and I am sure as the third approaches I will be turning into a whale and needing help with moving around haha, good thing it is almost flip flop season! So for right now I am enjoying the fact that I feel good! Plus it is so fun that I get to feel this little guy moving around inside of me all day long. I love that feeling, and it has been almost 5 years since I felt it last! Lets just say that I am a little worried that I am going to have a very active little boy on my hands once he gets here. I have to back up a bit though because I know it has been forever since I posted last. So I was convinced (along with my mom and my mother in law) that this was a little girl inside me, I even had Devin convinced. So when the big day finally came for us to have our 20 week ultra sound we were surprised to see little boy parts:) It was so cute though watching Devin's reaction to seeing his baby on the screen. He was smiling so big the whole time and was so into every detail of this little baby. I will post the pics but let me just tell you he has got the cutest little profile I have ever seen! So we both came out of there so happy to hear that he is healthy and also so surprised that we are having a little BOY! I have had to totally change my train of thought though, I honestly didn't care one way or the other, I just felt so strongly that it was a girl so I had already starting picking out cute little bows, and leg warmers, and dresses, and bedding, we even had a girl's name picked out. So now I have to change gears and get back to the cute little stud muffin boy stuff. Hardest part for me is not having a name for this little guy! We have a handful that we like and I guess we will just wait to meet him then pick a name that fits. So for right now he is our little Chief! Mariah was kinda sad that it wasn't a girl but she is still so excited to have a baby in the house. I am excited to have her help too, I have started babysitting this little baby boy once a week and she was so much help, she fed him a bottle and rocked him to sleep while I cooked dinner, it made me relax a little bit about having 3 kids. She is the best big sister! She had Camden convinced that he wanted another sister too, so it took him a minute to be excited that it is boy. But the day after we found out I was getting him dressed and he said, "Mom, I am soooo excited to have a brother!" so cute, he just needed some time to think for himself about it.

Ok enough about baby stuff, I haven't even posted about all of the holidays. Christmas was pretty good, it was the first year that the kids were with their dad from Christmas eve to Christmas morning, so that was really hard on me, but we got them back at noon and had the rest of the day with them. It was a good day, they got spoiled but the gift that has been the favorite is the gerbils we got them:) they love to get them out and hold them and play with them.
Next was new years, we just had a fun night in with the kids. We let them stay up until midnight (we had to wake Cam up) and we banged pots and pans, we watched movies and played uno and ate treats. It was really cool though to think about all that is going to happen this year. We listed all of the big events that will take place and I can't believe it, in April Camden will turn 5 and Devin and I will go to the temple to be sealed to each other (yay! I think this will be the only day that will ever top our wedding day) and Devin may be starting a new job, in June Chief will join our family, in July Mariah will turn 8 and be baptized, and in August Devin will potentially be starting law school and may require a big move, Mariah will go into 3rd grade, and Camden will start Kindergarten!!!! Those all seem like huge events to be happening in the same year!
And lastly we just had Valentines Day, nothing big here but I do have a cutie hubby, he got me the prettiest Pearl ring (pearl is the June birthstone!), and I got him some basketball shorts. We just stayed home with the kids got Cafe Rio and watched ghost busters with them. The kids loved that movie, it makes me laugh because now added to all of Camden's super hero play is some ghost bustin  as well.

Almost thru the "Ickies"

Well I am almost 10 weeks now and I am praying that I start to feel better around that 12 week mark. Let me start off by saying what an incredible husband I have! He has been so helpful and so understanding (big change from what I had the last 2 go arounds...) I can't imagine it has been very pleasant for him to have a wife who has just been sick for 2 months. Lets put it this way, we have had lots of pizza and spaghetti, and the house doesn't get cleaned as often as it used to, but we are all surviving! I can't wait to just feel like myself again. I am hopeful as we get closer to the 12 weeks, I feel like I do have more good days than bad so hopefully that means its nearing the end! Yesterday was one of those good days, Camden and I got to go spend the day with my mom! Now that we are living in Provo we don't see them as often as we used to so it is fun when we do get a chance. So yesterday we went shopping because grandma had to spoil the kids, and then we went out to lunch.

                                                                State Meet!!!
Last Saturday was my girls state meet. They all did so so good! I am so proud of them. I even had a coach from one of the other gyms come up to me and compliment me on how great all of my girls look. That made me feel really good that mine and Kaitlin's hard work with these girls is working and noticeable. Now that state is over I am really looking forward to getting back into the gym and working on new skills with these girls!

Fall festivities!

First day of school this year. I know it has been a few months but I figured this fell under the "Fall" category. Camden loves his preschool. He goes to Ms Rebecca at Patchwork Preschool, they do so many fun things everyday. He always comes home with a game that they have made that we play together. It is so fun to get my one on one time with my little buddy! I also love the fact that Ms Rebecca already has Camden reading! It is so fun to see him sit down with his reading folder and read all of the words they have learned. Mariah is in Mrs. Cummings 2nd grade class. Mariah doesn't love school quite as much as she did last year, but I think that has to do with the fact that she is getting older and it is more work and less play. She is such a little social butterfly. She has so many friends and she will be friends with anybody! She is so good about coming home and getting her homework done and reading for 20 mins. It amazes me how much she knows, when I check over her homework and she has done it all right without any help it makes me so proud of her. She is also mommy's little helper, she loves to help me with anything! (even cleaning bathrooms!) I am one lucky momma to have these 2 wonderful kiddos!

Halloween!! ok I seriously have been so bad, I didn't even take pictures of the kids on Halloween... don't judge. But I have been trying to find fun little craft ideas to do with the kids every week (lately its been every couple of weeks) I saw this idea at the craft store and thought the kids would like it, and they did! it is fun to see the creativity our little ones have! Mariah wanted to draw a picture of herself on her shirt and the #7 since she is 7 yrs old. Camden just liked the fact that he got to have paint all over his hands! For Halloween night, Mariah dressed up as Rapunzel, very fitting with her long blonde hair:) and Camden ended up as Bumble Bee from Transformers for his preschool, and then for trick or treating he was Iron Man! He has just about every super hero costume so it was nothing new for him to be dressed up for Halloween, he's dressed up everyday, in fact he is black spiderman at this very moment!

School Pictures! I love Mariah's picture this year, she look so mature. She is a beautiful little girl! I wasn't as happy with Camden's pictures, first of all the photographer didn't even have a stool for them to sit on and I think that it isn't as relaxed when they are standing, and he was giving his cheesy grin so his eyes are super closed. However it is very much "him" so I do like that about it! Such a handsome boy!

fun at the park with Camden!!
I love that he only has school 3 days a week so that we still have time to play! (see what I mean, the kid is always dressed up!)

Crafty Crafty!
So I was called as a member of the activities committee in RS, so we had to plan crafts for super saturday... the one I decided to do was the magnet/chalk board. It was fun to do, I think it is pretty cute, but it cost $20+ dollars to make so that made it so no one wanted to sign up for it for super saturday. What a waste, oh well, at least its cute and I can use it. While I was doing that, I decided that I needed a monthly calendar, so I found this super cute frame at Michael's, and just drew the calendar on fabric, and use dry erase markers on the glass! I LOVE it!!! Next my bestie Carrie introduced me to "Pintrest" dun, dun, dun! Yes I spend way too much time looking at all of the cool things that are out there to do. So I whipped up these super easy fabric flowers (they are too big for a bracelet but I really like the flowers). Next we decided to start a monthly craft night with my group of high school friends. So we got together and made these super cute canvas paintings! It was perfect for my bathroom! I am done being crafty for the time being! Hahaha
PS ( I am still trying to figure out how to get all of these dang pictures in the place that i want them, ugh)

My little Missionaries!
I wish I had gotten pictures of this but I didn't. So for Mariah's red ribbon week at school they had a day that they were supposed to dress up as what they wanted to be when they grow up. She said, "I want to be a missionary!" So she wore a long dress and brought her BOM to school with her. When she got home she said, "Mom, I was the only one who dressed up as someone who is actually important!" Ah so cute! Then last Sunday we were getting ready for church and Camden got to wear his new church clothes that grandma bought him, complete with tie and handkerchief. We were saying how handsome he looked and he said "I look like a missionary!" He was so excited he said, "Mom, when I grow up I want to be all of the super heroes AND a missionary!" He wore those clothes all day long. Then yesterday he kept telling me that he needed to study the pictures in his book of Mormon, he would go through each one and tell me all about what was going on in the picture. Then he went and got his crayons and started underlining everything and said "Look Mom, it looks like yours and Dad's now!" It makes my heart so happy to see them and their excitement about the gospel at such a young age. Sometimes I am embarrassed to admit that I am learning right along side them, and that Mariah knows a lot more about the scripture stories than I do. She amazes me with her love of the gospel, she has such a sweet spirit!

Last but not Least.....
Here was my Halloween costume! Thats right, little baby Bateman is on its way! I have been feeling about as good as I look in this picture haha. We were both surprised at how quickly it happened. I started reading a lot about the timing required to get pregnant ( I am surprised that anyone actually gets pregnant since the egg only lives for 12 hrs) and one month later BAM pregnant! We are so excited!! Mariah can't even wait, she has been asking me since Devin and I were dating "can I have my baby sister now?" haha. While asking the kids what we should name the baby, we started joking that we were just going to call it Optimus Prime, Camden didn't like that idea and got all frustrated and said, "its MY baby brother, YOU don't get to make decisions about him!" So I am sure we are going to have lots of extra help from big brother and sister! And I will apologize in advance if my next month of post is full of complaining about feeling so sick!!
